St Aldhelms Crest   Market Place

Frome is a delightful historic market town, the fourth largest town in Somerset with a population of approx 27,000 and is a wonderful centre from which to visit the surrounding area. Set on the eastern edge of the Mendip hills, it is an attractive town, built on steep hills with cobbled streets.   Frome’s history dates back to the 7th century and the expanding town centre is still relatively unaffected with much dating from the 1700s.

The town centre offers a wide variety of shops including national chains as well as local specialists, markets, cafés and restaurants. For the art and entertainment lovers, Frome has a number of choirs, a symphony orchestra, a Youth Band, two theatres, a cinema and the Cheese & Grain building where a wide range of performances can be enjoyed. Frome boasts a well established calendar of events including the Frome Festival, the Christmas Spectacular and the Carnival.
