Markets & Shopping

Missing Image File!

Frome offers a wide variety of shops, many of them independent and specialist, as well as the well known national chains, cafes, restaurants and markets. The town is developing a reputation for boutique shopping to rival nearby Bath. There are many bespoke shops and boutiques, mostly centred around medieval Cheap Street and 17th century Catherine Hill, selling arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles, designer clothing plus much more.

There are General Markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the main car park outside the Cheese & Grain, also market stalls are located at the bottom of Cheap St in the town centre.

Specialist markets are also held in the Cheese & Grain at various times, including;

Farmers Market on the second Saturday of every month.

Antiques, Collectors and Flea Market on every Wednesday.

Country Markets which are every Thursday.

There are also other markets:

The Cattle Market at Standerwick (4 miles from Frome) happens every Wednesday. In addition to livestock there are general auctions of goods and chattels.

The Catherine Hill Artisan Market is held every first Sunday of the month, during the summer. The cobbles of Catherine Hill bustle with artists, designers, food producers and all manner of other creatives from all over the region.

The Frome Flea is a new sister-market to the Artisan Market, outside the Library also held on the first Sunday of the month, during summer. It is a quality second-hand market with stalls selling antiques, collectable art, vintage clothes, fabrics, retro collectables, toys, homeware, etc.
