At the Frome Town Council meeting on 7th December 2011, the Members of the Independents for Frome group indicated their intention to sell the Council's Palmer Street office, utilise a budget of £157,000 set aside for office relocation and move the Town Council office to the mezzanine floor of the Cheese and Grain where 50kW of photovoltaic cells will also be installed.
The move would look to establish a new reception area, a meeting room for the Council and others, a lift, office accomodation for the Cheese and Grain staff and FTC Officers, and a charging point for electric vehicles.
Vernon Anderson, Chief Executive, said, "We are exploring with the Cheese and Grain whether the mezzanine could accommodate the Council's needs as well as those of community groups in the town. In addition, the Council agreed its new Strategy and Action Plan for the year ahead and there is a commitment to work with the District and County Councils to develop a community hub in the town in order to provide residents, businesses and visitors with a one stop shop for all their information needs."
This proposal from the IfFs will be tabled for discussion at the next Full Council meeting on 25th January 2012.
The Cheese & Grain held their AGM on Tuesday 6th December 2011.
