Victoria Park can be accessed via either the main gate in Weymouth Road or from Park Road where it joins the Mary Baily Playing Field.
Victoria Park was laid out in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was given by The Trustees of the Frome Jubilee Recreation Ground to the Frome Local Board on 7 May 1888, in perpetuity, as Public Recreation and Pleasure Grounds for the free use and equal and lawful enjoyment of all. Ownership was subsequently transferred to the Town Council. This area comprises grassed areas and informal and formal flower beds and shrubbery. The park has many mature and statuesque specimen trees, and a Tree Trail leaflet is available. A number of recreational facilities are provided including 3 all weather competition size tennis courts, a putting green, a bowling green which provides up to 7 rinks, a large pavilion, a boules / petanque terrain and separate toilets for men and women (with baby changing facilities) as well as a wheelchair accessible toilet.
Bandstand
The park also contains a recently re-thatched bandstand where band concerts are held on several Sunday afternoons during the summer months. Mains power and seating can be supplied, please contact the park office if you wish to book the bandstand. Alternatively the whole park is available to hire for a variety of events, again please contact the park office for further information on telephone number 01373 467596.
Cafe
In the summer of 2009, work was undertaken to convert the old brick store into a tea room in the park, which now serves a range of delightful refreshments to park visitors.
Rabka Gardens
Rabka Gardens is a small area located behind the bandstand in the park. For many decades it has been a community meeting place and historically has had many functions including both a memorial and sensory garden. Following the twinning of Rabka-Zdrój in 2009, the area has undergone a makeover creating a larger open space with low-level sustainable planting and stones sourced from local quarries. The use of cool colours is designed to create an area where people can relax and unwind. The garden is surrounded by four large benches providing an ideal location from which to enjoy views of the park, listen to performances on the bandstand, chat with others or simply enjoy some 'me-time'. The gardens were be formally opened by the Mayor of Frome, Cllr Nick White and the Rabka's Chairman, Maria Górnicka-Orzeł on Friday 1st July 2011.
